Read Chris's Story:

Over the past 4 years Don’t Tone Alone has grown and continued to deliver projects with great success in your boroughs, making a difference to unpaid carers. My team and I are extremely proud of this and grateful for the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of carers this way. This would not have happened without your open-minded approach to collaboration and business, fused with unrivalled dedication to support unpaid carers.

Therefore, at the end of Carers Week 2018 from Friday 15th June to Sunday 17th June, a group of friends and I will be cycling from London to Paris to raise money for talking therapies for unpaid carers in your boroughs.

Mental health has been receiving a lot of attention over the past couple of years, and rightly so, but I feel the stories of those carers who support people with mental health are completely neglected. This is not an unfamiliar issue for carers as you are aware. As a result I would like to focus on raising money for unpaid mental health carers specifically.

Exercise, increased physical activity, and nutrition is know to directly improve mental well being, and Don’t Tone Alone will be here as long as is welcome to deliver a range of projects that do this. However, we would also like to support the services we cannot directly provide (yet) and keep helping carers.

Having been an unpaid carer and worked with so many carers groups, the stories of compassion, difficulty and resilience never cease to make a heartfelt impact. A voice is needed to relive tension, feel less alone, solve problems that otherwise feel hopeless, and to make a difference. With your permission I would like to further enable that voice to be heard.
