Donation of mental health recovery stories to the NEON trials

Narrative Experiences Online (NEON) trials, https://recoverystories.uk, are looking for donations of mental health recovery stories.

More than 1800 people have taken part in the trials. We hope to publish our results by the end of 2022, which will be available to the public at https://researchintorecovery.com/neon/findings. Many people around the country have helped us to find people to take part in NEON, and we’re very grateful for every contribution.

People who take part in the NEON trials obtain access to a collection of more than 600 mental health recovery stories from around the world. We’re still looking to find people who would like to donate their story to NEON. Stories will be incorporated into the trials, and will remain a part of NEON as we look to make it more widely available for people affected by mental health problems.

Adding stories to NEON can make it more diverse, and hence more relevant to people who use it. We can include any story that includes elements of adversity or struggle that relate to mental health problems, broadly defined, and which includes descriptions of strengths, successes or survival. We’re not just including very positive recovery stories, we’ve wanted to be as inclusive as possible, and we can include stories in which people are describing the very early stages of recovery.
