At some point in our lives, almost all of us will care for someone we love, or need care ourselves. When that time comes, we should live in a country that makes it easier, not harder, to care.
Right now, an estimated 6 million unpaid carers in the UK — family, friends, neighbours — are supporting loved ones without pay, often around the clock, and with little to no support.
They don’t get time off. They rarely get a break. And too many are being pushed to the brink, physically, mentally, and financially.
Nearly half of unpaid carers get less than an hour to themselves each day — and they have no legal right to a break.
This needs to change. Let’s stand together and call for proper recognition and support.
