Sonia has known the Royal Borough of Kingston for many years, having lived in the borough and worked here for much of her early career before moving to neighbouring Merton.

 

Her professional background is in health and social care leadership, spanning more than twenty years across services for unpaid carers, mental health and substance misuse. Most recently she was Head of Services at Carers Network, leading statutory and grant-funded services across three London boroughs.

 

 

Throughout her career Sonia has focused on safeguarding and service quality, and on building supportive, well-led teams. She sees safeguarding as something embedded in an organisation's everyday culture rather than a separate function, a conviction shaped by many years working alongside people at most risk. As a trustee of Kingston Carers Network, she is pleased to contribute to the charity's governance and to support its work in reaching and supporting carers of all ages across the borough.
