Steven is a qualified actuary and has worked in the insurance industry for over 35 years. He has held company or divisional Chief Actuary roles for the past twenty years in both internationally owned firms and UK companies including one on the FTSE 100.
The Chief Actuary role requires annual certification by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and the function holder is approved and regulated by the Bank of England Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) under its Senior Managers Regime. In addition, the role requires certification under the Financial Conduct Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime which requires annual screening and fitness and propriety checks.
Alongside the regulatory role, he enjoys interacting with colleagues at all levels in the company and regularly presents to Executive and non-Executive Board members. However, he finds the most rewarding part of the job is to lead and mentor a team of qualified and student actuaries encouraging them to learn both technical and softer skills.
Outside of work he enjoys watching sport, cooking and eating out with my wife and friends and going for an occasional run in Richmond Park.
